BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Chittenden County commuters can look forward to a hassle-free bus ride to work after the bus drivers’ union and country transportation authorities reached a contract deal.
The deal was brokered during a marathon, 19-hour session that began Saturday and stretched into Sunday morning.
Chittendon County Transportation officials say passengers should see no service disruptions Monday. The drivers had threatened to strike if no deal was reached.
Teamsters Local 597 represents nearly 70 bus drivers who’ve been seeking a better contract since last April. The drivers carry about 9,500 people a day in the state’s largest county.
Details of the proposed contract were not released.
