STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin joined Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis and officials with the National Math and Science Initiative to announce the start of a program intended to prepare teachers in science, technology, engineering and math.

The program known as OSUTeach is intended to focus on training teachers in the four subject areas. OSU also received a $1.4 million grant from the National Math and Science Initiative and $600,000 from the Charles and Lynn Shusterman Family Foundation in Tulsa on Monday to support the program.

OSU was selected in February as a partner for the program that is a collaboration between the OSU College of Education and the OSU College of Arts and Sciences.
