JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Senate minority members are calling on Gov. Sean Parnell to withdraw one of his appointments to the State Assessment Review Board.

Parnell, in a release last month, announced he had appointed Dennis Mandell to the board, which sets the value for oil industry property. The release listed Mandell’s hometown as Salinas, which is in California.

Senate Minority Leader Hollis French says under the law, a board appointee must be and have been a registered voter in the state before the last general election.

Mandell told the Anchorage Daily News he last lived in Alaska in 1995 and is registered to vote in California. Parnell spokeswoman Sharon Leighow told the newspaper the state Constitution only requires an appointee to be a U.S. citizen.

She said Parnell was traveling Monday.
