PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Justin Sears scored 24 points and Javier Duren 14 as Yale held off Penn 70-63 on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (15-11, 9-3 Ivy League) took the lead at 25-24 on back-to-back jumpers from Sears 4:35 before halftime. The Quakers (7-18, 4-7) didn’t trail by much. Tony Hicks twice pulled Penn into range during the last 2 minutes - a layup bringing the Quakers to 63-60 and then a 3-pointer closing the gap to 65-63 with 32 seconds left.

After Yale called two timeouts Duren, Armani Cotton and Sears closed out the win by sinking 5 of 6 at the free-throw line.

Free throws were the difference, as the Bulldogs scored 24 points on 31 tries while Penn was 8 of 14.

Sears finished 8 of 10 at the line, Duren 9 of 9.

Miles Jackson-Cartwright led Penn with 20 points. Darien Nelson-Henry and Hicks had 15 each.
