PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - The Phenix City school board has approved the qualifications, selection procedure and timeline for its search for a new superintendent.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (https://bit.ly/1fZybg0) that the board met Friday to approve the guidelines.

The position will include a salary range of $125,000 to $145,000.

Board president Brad Baker says the tentative schedule calls for the vacancy to be posted Wednesday, the application deadline to be April 14 and the preferred start date to be June 1.

He said the board will conduct the search by itself and not use a consultant in order to save money and expedite the process.
