FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear says flags at state office buildings are being lowered to half-staff in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died in Afghanistan.

A news release from Beshear’s communications office says he ordered that flags be flown at half-staff Saturday in honor of 21-year-old Pfc. Joshua A. Gray of Van Lear.

According to the Department of Defense, Gray died Feb. 10 in Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, from a noncombat related incident. He was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

Beshear is encouraging individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
