CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a fire that heavily damaged the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park last summer was human-caused.
The Canon City Police Department released the detail Friday but did not elaborate. The wildfire was reported the afternoon of June 11 and by that evening, it had destroyed 48 of 52 structures in the park.
The Canon City Daily Record reports (https://bit.ly/1eD9MR8 ) the fire burned more than 3,000 acres, but no homes were lost and no one was injured.
The city and the Royal Gorge Bridge Company of Colorado are working to rebuild the park within about a $23 million budget.
