TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Jerrelle Benimon scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and Mike Burwell hit a jumper with a second to play as Towson beat William and Mary 70-68 on Saturday.

Benimon hit a pair of free throws with 7:44 to play, giving Towson (22-9, 13-6 Colonial Athletic Association) its first lead, 53-51, since the opening minutes when the Tigers led 2-0.

Towson held a six-point lead with 2 minutes left, but Brandon Britt knocked down a 3 to cut William and Mary’s deficit in half. Britt’s steal with 1:13 to play led to a Marcus Thornton layup which made it 67-66.

Timajh Parker-Rivera then made one of two free throws before Omar Prewitt tied the game at 68 by knocking down a pair of free throws on the other end with 21 seconds left, setting up the Burwell’s game winner.

Tim Rustoven paced the Tribe (18-11, 10-6) with 20 points.
