PHOENIX (AP) - One person is dead after Phoenix police say a driver made a U-turn that led to a collision.
Sgt. Steve Martos says the driver of a Nissan Sentra going southbound on 43rd Avenue near Bell Road around midnight tried to turn the vehicle around from the outside curb lane.
Martos says the driver came into the direct path of a Hyundai Santa Fe going southbound in the inside lane.
Authorities say the driver of the Nissan, whose identity they did not release, died shortly after arriving at a hospital.
Passengers in the Nissan were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the Hyundai’s driver was treated for minor injuries.
Martos says impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor in the incident.
