Big-time college basketball is coming to Annapolis.

Navy will host a new four-team event to open the college basketball season, with Michigan State, Tennessee and VCU set to join the Midshipmen this fall in the inaugural Veterans Classic at the Naval Academy.

The Nov. 14 doubleheader at Alumni Hall will feature the Vols and Rams at 6:30 before Navy hosts the Spartans at 9 p.m., with both games set to be televised by CBS Sports Network.

Under terms of the deal with CBS, the event is to be held each year through 2017.

“This should be a terrific event over the next four years featuring some of the best college basketball teams in the country,” Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said in a statement. “We are excited to be able to put on a first class event with our partners from CBS, while also honoring veterans from all the services. It will be an incredible opportunity for our basketball program to host some of the premier basketball programs in the country in Alumni Hall.”
