Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told a crowd on Wednesday that the Obama administration has taken the military option off the table as a means of discouraging or resolving conflicts around the globe.
With a banner reading “America cannot do a damn thing” in the background, the leader said: “They realized that military attacks are as dangerous or even more dangerous for the assaulting country as they are for the country attacked,” the New York Times reported Wednesday.
A “military attack is not a priority for Americans now,” he concluded, the Times reported. “They have renounced the idea of any military actions.”
Mr. Khamenei’s speech was part of an event held for the country’s political and military elite to remember the 25th anniversary of the death of his predecessor, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
