Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson has missed a week of practices during organized team activities with a lingering left hamstring injury, according to coach Jay Gruden.
Jackson was seen receiving treatment last Wednesday during an OTA practice open to the media after pulling up on a deep throw from quarterback Robert Griffin III inside the team’s practice bubble on a rainy day in Ashburn. Jackson did not participate at all during this Wednesday’s outdoor practice. Andre Roberts, Washington’s other free agent acquisition at wide receiver during the offseason, took Jackson’s repetitions in practice with the first unit.
The injury is still not considered serious and the Redskins insist they are simply being cautious with minicamp still two weeks away and plenty of time to heal again before training camp.
“DeSean has a minor tweak,” Gruden said. “All hamstrings are different. He’s rehabbing with [team trainers] and hopefully he’ll be back next week starting the final week of the OTA.”
