Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had harsh words for President Obama over his decision to trade five radical Taliban inmates at Guantanamo Bay for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl: He “blew it,” she said.
She pointed to National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s remarks about Sgt. Bergdahl serving with “honor and distinction,” then called out Mr. Obama for what she painted as yet another failure on foreign policy, Politico reported.
“No, Mr. President, a soldier expressing horrid anti-American beliefs — even boldly putting them in writing and unabashedly firing off his messages while in uniform, just three days before he left his unit on foot — is not ’honorable service,’” she said in a Facebook post, referencing how Sgt. Bergdahl was reported by the New York Post to have emailed his parents from Afghanistan to express how he was “ashamed to be an American.”
Mrs. Palin suggested the president ought to use his White House platform to praise and honor this U.S. military members who are truly worthy of the praise.
“Please use your [platform] to praise the truly honorable service of our good U.S. troops who were killed in their search for Sgt. Bergdahl,” she wrote. “You blew it again, Barack Obama, by negotiating away any leverage against the bad guys as these bad guys — Osama bin Laden’s partners in evil crime — joyfully celebrate their ’win’ in the deal you sealed.”
