President Obama touched down in Europe on Tuesday, taking to the international stage to ask Congress from across the ocean for a $1 billion dole-out to bolster U.S. military in the region.
It’s not clear yet exactly how that money would be spent.
But shortly after landing in Warsaw, Mr. Obama called European security the “cornerstone of our own security, and it is sacrosanct,” USA Today reported. He also added: “It is a commitment that is particularly important at this point in time.”
Leaders in Poland in particular have expressed concerns to the United States about Russia’s aggression into Crimea and subsequent annexation of the Ukraine region.
Mr. Obama is supposed to discuss details of the military aid with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a private meeting.
