“Parks and Recreation” star Rob Lowe and his family had to be rescued from their French vacation home on Wednesday after a storm brought frightening floods to the area.
Officials in Grasse, France, said the Lowes had experienced the “biggest storm of the year” last week.
“Water rising like that can be terrifying,” said one official, CNN reported. “There’s only one rescue station in Grasse, and this storm required assistance from several other regional units. We were called out on a lot of emergency rescues yesterday.”
Mr. Lowe’s son Johnny posted photos of the wreckage to their home on his Instagram account.
“That’s the first floor of our house submerged,” he captioned a photo that has since been removed, CNN reported. “Scariest hour or so of my life.”
“Thank you to the fireman that saved us from this nightmare,” Johnny said on Twitter. “Happy for us all to be safe, thoughts to others.”
Rob Lowe, 50, also posted an Instagram photo, later apparently deleted, showing his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, hugging a fireman, People magazine reported.
“My wife,” he wrote, “being rescued this am in the horrific flooding in Grasse France. Glad we are safe. Grateful to first responders.”
The ordeal comes amid an extended European family vacation, with stops in London, Cannes and Spain, to celebrate Johnny’s high school graduation, People said.
