OPINION:
The latest Obama administration scandals at the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Internal Revenue Service should send shock waves through the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
According to Sen. Tom Coburn’s revealing investigation into the Veterans Affairs scandal, this government agency caused the deaths of 1,000 of our veterans, with 120,000 of them waiting at least 90 days to see a doctor. The agency is also responsible for $20 billion in waste, plus $845 million in malpractice claims. At the same time, $111 million has been paid in bonuses to VA administrators in 2010 alone, compliments of the U.S. taxpayer. This is indicative of what all Americans can expect from government-run health care: death, shortage of doctors, long wait times, poor care, lawsuits, bureaucratic red tape, corruption and extremely high premium costs.
To make matters worse, the IRS, the government agency that has targeted conservatives, continues to blatantly lie to Congress. It illegally destroyed evidence (claiming Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and lost all pertinent emails just as the investigation got under way), and is the government agency that will enforce Obamacare and levy penalties on those Americans who refuse to carry insurance.
It looks to be the perfect storm gathering: the fruition of the Obama administration’s dream come true and a nightmare for freedom-loving individuals. Allowing the government power over our health translates to the loss of individual freedom. Conservatives must vigorously fight back and recapture the Senate in November, repeal Obamacare and stop the systematic socialist takeover of America.
