Former President George H.W. Bush, a.k.a. the “sock man” for his vast collection of socks, has agreed to take on a new role — a judge in a contest sponsored by his Presidential Library Foundation to find the perfect design for his feet.
The foundation has reached out to the community at-large to submit entries of socks that Mr. Bush will judge to find what’s most worthy of his feet, and the winning pairs will be put on display at his library in College Station, United Press International reported.
The contest wraps Aug. 31.
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush once remarked that to his father, socks were serious business.
“[He] must have, like, 500 pairs of socks,” he previously told ABC.
Even Twitter has picked up on the former president’s fetish, posting pictures of Mr. Bush with raised pant legs that expose the likes of red-and-white striped socks with pictures of reindeer across the front, UPI reported.

In April 2014, another Twitter poster sent a GOP ad of Mr. Bush’s face next to shocking orange-, yellow-, blue- and green-striped socks with the accompanying message: “Kinda want these socks. … RNC offering limited-edition George H.W. Bush socks as a donor gift.”
