Nobody’s yet reported any accidents, but carmakers Nissan, Honda and Mazda aren’t taking any chances and have issued a recall for millions of models around the world over a glitch discovered with Takata Corp. air bags — they could possible explode.
Honda Motor Co. recalled a little more than 2 million, 1.02 million of which were sold in North America, NBC News reported. That’s on top of the million or so models that Honda was forced to recall last year for similar issues with the Takata air bag, The Associated Press reported.
Nissan, meanwhile, has recalled 755,000 vehicles around the globe, and Mazda — another 160,000, NBC News said.
Both Nissan and Mazda issued recalls last year, too, for similar air-bag-related issues, AP reported.
Meanwhile, Toyota Motor Corp. had its own issues with air bags. Earlier this year, the company recalled 2.27 million vehicles after a fire was reported related to the air bag glitch, AP reported.
The makes, models and years of the recalls are posted on the companies’ websites.
