Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who faces three murder charges for 2013 and 2012 incidents, was taken briefly from jail and transported to an outside hospital for treatment of an undisclosed ailment.
HIPAA laws won’t let prison officials release details of his hospital treatment, which occurred at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, CNN reported. But Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson did say that his half-hour stay at the hospital did not come about because of a prison fight, or a jail-related security incident, CNN reported.
Hernandez was taken back to his Bristol County House of Correction cell, where he currently awaits trial.
He’s charged with first-degree murder for the June 2013 death of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player, and with the murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who died in July 2012.
He’s pleaded not guilty to all counts.
