Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor promised in an ABC interview aired Sunday that her Costco run-in with Hillary Clinton last weekend was not a staged photo-op.

“It was not planned, I can assure you,” Miss Sotomayor told George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” ABC News reported.

“A nice lady at the pharmacy counter … recognized me and we started chatting. And she says, ’Are you here with the other lady?’ And I said, ’What other lady?’ and she mentioned Madam Secretary and that’s how I found out,” she said. “I promise.”

Reporters got an unexpected photo-op last Saturday when the two high-powered ladies ran into each other at a Costco in Arlington. The former secretary of state was hunkered down at the wholesaler to sign copies of her new book, “Hard Choices.”

The Supreme Court justice told Clinton that she would read her book, according to reporters on the scene.
