A Polish magazine said Sunday it has obtained recordings in which Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski says the country’s alliance with the United States “isn’t worth anything” and that it actually alienates the Russians and Germans.
In a transcript of the conversation by the magazine Wprost, a person identified as Mr. Sikorski tells former finance minister, Jacek Rostowski, using vulgar language, that the Polish-U.S. alliance is “harmful because it creates a false sense of security” for naive Poles, the Associated Press reported.
There has been no official confirmation that that the voice is Mr. Sikorski. The government will make a comment after the recording is published in full this week, spokeswoman Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska said, AP reported.
Wprost set off a firestorm last week after releasing a recording of a conversation between central bank head Marek Belka and Interior Minister Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz, in which the two discussed how the bank could help the governing party win re-election in 2015. This new recording is expected to add to the troubles, AP reported.
