New York lawmakers have passed a bill that bans pet owners from giving their animals tattoos or body piercings.
The bill now heads to Gov. Cuomo to sign, and he’s reportedly on board with passing it, according to the New York Daily News.
“Companion animals … will no longer be subject to the selfish whims of their owners,” Democratic Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal told the Daily News.
Ms. Rosenthal introduced the bill in 2011 after learning of a woman who sold “Gothic kittens” online that were outfitted with piercings on their necks and spines, the Daily News said.
