Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice’s portrait — a $52,450 tax-paid picture — was unveiled at the State Department in front of a nonpartisan crowd on Wednesday.
Present Secretary of State John Kerry was on hand for the ceremony, The Washington Post reported.
Her portrait shows her in red dress, with a string of pearls and matching earrings, holding lightly to the back of a chair. Her reaction was all smiles, The Post said.
But Ms. Rice’s portrait may be the last.
Congressional lawmakers have banned spending on portraits this year, and several senators have sponsored bills to cap taxpayer contributions to the portraits at $20,000.
