Just as Rob Ford, Toronto’s beleaguered mayor, is trying to make a quiet transition from rehab to work, here comes a theatrical performance about his life of drugs, alcohol and partying: “Rob Ford the Musical: Birth of a Ford Nation.”
Auditions for the leading role — complete with dozens of leading man lookalikes — kicked off this week on a Toronto stage, United Press International reported.
The timing of the tryout is perhaps unfortunate for Mr. Ford, who is likely attempting to leave behind his party-hearty past and re-enter the arena of somber politics in peace, before the month’s end.
“Kindly be advised that I will be returning to work at City Hall on Monday, June 30th, 2014, in the later portion of the afternoon,” Mr. Ford wrote in a memo to the Toronto city clerk, UPI reported. “Please make the necessary arrangements for my locks to be restored to their state prior to my departure.”
Mr. Ford also has a re-election battle set for Oct. 27. The play on his life, meanwhile, is scheduled to run for two weeks in September, UPI reported.
