Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has asked its embassy to investigate reports that 60 construction workers from five nations were abducted by Islamic terrorists from a building site by the city of Kirkuk.
Dogan news agency reported that militants with the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, ISIL, seized the group of workers while they were trying to construct a hospital. The news agency based its report on the statements of an unnamed worker who said he was set free by the terrorists, The Associated Press reported.
The workers hailed from Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan and Nepal, AP reported.
The Foreign Ministry could not immediately confirm the abduction.
But just last week, terrorists from this same ISIL group grabbed 49 at the Turkish consulate in Mosul, along with 31 Turkish truck drivers, AP said.
