The five Taliban members who were freed by President Obama from their Guantanamo Bay confines and swapped for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl are now living the life of luxury in Doha, relaxing in a mansion and under the care of a private masseuse, one Daily Best journalist discovered.
The reporter, in Doha for a conference, tried to track down the Taliban Five, as they’ve been dubbed. But while he couldn’t find them to interview, he did learn from talking to others where they’re staying and how their supposed locked-down life is actually being played out, the Daily Mail reported.
The five are currently staying inside a gated luxury compound located just outside the town and have “freedom of movement within Qatar,” the Daily Beast reported.
Specifically, they’re living in a mansion setting located in the al-Muaither neighborhood, described by the Daily Beast as a “loose conglomeration of modest houses and high-end compounds littered with expensive cars,” reporter Josh Steinberg wrote. Moreover, the five have been provided with their own private masseuse, he said.
“It didn’t seem to fit with their hard-line stereotypes,” he wrote, in the Daily Beast, also acknowledging that he couldn’t track down the masseuse to confirm the report.
