President Obama is purposely trying to erode America’s greatness and diminish the U.S. influence on the international stage in order to level the playing field for all the world’s nations, said documentarian and author Dinesh D’Souza, in a recent interview.

“Obama calls it ’fair share,’ ” Mr. D’Souza said, to The Daily Caller. “In my opinion, President Obama believes in American exceptionalism. I believe America’s exceptionally good, and he believes America’s exceptionally bad.”

Also, Mr. Obama doesn’t see other nations’ sins in the same light as he sees America’s, Mr. D’Souza said, Newsmax reported.

“If he did, he would be pressing the Chinese to use less energy resources,” the pundit said. “He would be demanding that they stop buying all the land and minerals in Africa. He would be demanding that they reduce their nuclear arsenal.”

But he’s not doing that — and the media, meanwhile, is only helping to further his message, Mr. D’Souza said.

“[It’s a] narrative of American shame,” he said, and it’s all painted as “progress. … [But] if I am a termite, for me, progress means eating the building and making it fall down.”

Mr. D’Souza said he’s still optimistic about America’s future.

“Even the Democrats are starting to realize something very fishy is going on here,” he said, Newsmax reported.

Mr. D’Souza’s most recent work includes a film about Mr. Obama, “2016: Obama’s America.” His news book and followup movie titled “America” is set for release on July 2.

He just pleaded guilty last month to using $20,000 of straw donations to illegally support Republican Senate hopeful Wendy Long in 2012.
