Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Sunday he is not going to launch another White House bid in 2016.
“I’m not running for president,” Mr. Romney told NBC’s Meet the Press. “I’ve said that so many times.”
Republicans have begun to court Mr. Romney, arguing American voters have come to regret re-electing President Obama over the former Massachusetts governor.
But Mr. Romney said there is no genuine effort to draft him and he wouldn’t listen to them anyway. He hooked up some of the leading GOP contenders for president with his fundraisers this week at a summit in Utah.
If he were running, he said, he wouldn’t be giving his potential GOP rivals that kind of leg up.
Mr. Romney said presumed Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton is beatable in 2016 because her tenure as secretary of state “was a monumental bust.”
