N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, who was recently recognized “Father of the Year,” went into high-waisted nerdy mode, grabbing his belt and taking to Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” stage to show off his shimmy — “The Evolution of Dad Dancing.”

Calling it awkward might be an understatement, Mediaite reported.

The two wore khakis and collared golf shirts as they showcased such moves as the “Lawn Mower,” the “Oh stop it! I’m Not Embarrassing you!” and the “Honk the Horn.”

Others: “Don’t Make Me Turn This car Around,” followed by “This Garbage Can Isn’t too Full Yet, I Can Do It Tomorrow Morning,” and then “You Look Great Honey, We’re Late.”

The “Back It Up” seemed an especial crowd-pleaser, as did the “Democratic Convention,” and the “I Saw This Once on Dancing with The Stars.”

And the finale?

“This Bridge Is Closed,” to which Mr. Christie — whose administration was embroiled in a political scandal about the closure of a heavily traveled bridge — dropped his head and panned a somber stage walk-off.

Mr. Christie was just recognized a couple weeks ago as “Father of the Year” by the National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council.
