OPINION:
Has anybody wondered why Mexico allows thousands of youngsters to be transported from the country’s southern border to the American border? Actually, Mexico facilitates it. It could not occur without that country’s active support (“Ariz. rushes supplies to warehouse of young illegal immigrants shipped from Texas,” Web, June 7).
Mexico has very strict immigration laws. They are even keeping an American Marine in prison for accidentally missing a poorly marked temporary exit ramp that forced him to enter Mexico. Has anybody realized that Mexican officials are probably disgusted and outraged with us? We created the market for illicit drugs, which in turn created the drug cartels that are corroding law and order inside Mexico. Our government ran guns into Mexico with its stupid “Fast and Furious” entrapment scheme.
Our hapless State Department has not mended our broken relations with Mexico. I think Mexican officials are extracting their revenge. We will see more illegal immigrants, which is just fine with the Obama administration. Democrats need more people in an underclass who depend on government aid. Oh, and does anybody doubt that by the president’s last day in office he will have granted pardons to every single illegal immigrant?
