A male Californian custodian has been accused of using a camera to record women inside a restroom at Anaheim City Hall, police said.
The suspect, Simon Carbajal Rosales, 24, was arrested after a city worker discovered the digital camera in the bathroom and alerted her boss, NBC Los Angeles said.
“While they were conducting their investigation and determined that the device was in fact a small digital camera, a male actually came back to the bathroom,” said Anaheim Police Lt. Bob Dunn, in the local broadcast outlet. “He was dressed as a custodian, had the signage to close down the bathroom.”
Mr. Rosales was actually an employee of an independent custodial business and did not work directly for the city. During his two years’ work, he’s had access to multiple city buildings — and now investigators are wondering if he planted cameras in other spots.
“We are attempting to identify any victims, either from city employees or the public,” said Mr. Dunn in the NBC Los Angeles report. “Once we identify victims, then we will be in contact with those victims personally, and then we will continue our investigation that way. But the very first thing we need to do is sift through those photos.”
The media outlet reported that police arrested Mr. Rosales at a time when he was under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance.
