American drones dropping bombs on a compound in northwest Pakistan near the Afghanistan border have left at least 10 dead, local intelligence agents reported on Thursday.
The drone strike is the second in the last few hours. The first left three militant fighters dead in the same North Waziristan region, The Associated Press reported.
The dual attacks mark the Central Intelligence Agency’s restart of a drone strike program that it had halted for about six months, AP reported.
The border region is a known hotbed of terrorist activity and is home to several radical militants groups, some of which are linked to al Qaeda.
The drone attack on Thursday involved three separate missile strikes at a compound and on a vehicle. Local intelligence officials don’t have information on the 10 dead from Thursday, or on the three killed late Wednesday, AP reported.
