A priest was shot and killed, and another left critically injured, in an attack at a Catholic Church in the Capitol District of Phoenix late Wednesday evening, police said.

It’s not clear if the second priest was shot, and what his injuries entailed. Police said he was transferred to a nearby hospital and he’s in critical condition, The Arizona Republic reported.

Police were called to the Mother of Mercy Mission on a burglary complaint.

The suspect or suspects fled the area, and police found what they believe to be the get-away car a few blocks from the church. Nobody was inside, however, and police are still searching for the suspects.
