A St. Louis couple didn’t stand idly by when they saw two armed men grab their 17-year-old daughter as she headed out of the house to her car in the driveway.

After watching Cortez McClinton, 33, and Terrell Johnson, 31, hold guns to the girl’s head and force her back to the front door, the parents — their 5-year-old also home at the time — grabbed their own weapons, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

When the door opened and the men stepped inside, the parents unleashed gunfire. The mother missed with her lone shot, but the father hit both men, killing Mr. Johnson.

Mr. McClinton managed to flee, but was later arrested at a hospital and charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping, burglary and criminal armed action, the Post-Dispatch reported.

Mr. McClinton had a record of criminal activity. In 2010, he was charged with fatally shooting another man, but the case was dropped after witnesses refused to participate. He also had a criminal record for drug-related charges.
