The Air Force, which has been suffering from a string of scandals tied to its nuclear missile corps, is now offering bonus pay as a means of drawing in better leadership to the branch.
The unit’s been faulted in recent months for a variety of security lapses, training failures and leadership problems — including shocking discipline breaches that have led to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel’s demand for immediate action, The Associated Press reported.
So Air Force chiefs have decided to provide bonus incentives to help fill gaps in proper leadership positions, AP said. They’ve also decided to offer a nuclear service medal as an incentive to leaders and to help draw solid candidates to the ailing Minuteman 3 missile force.
