Militants riding motorbikes tried to storm into an airport training facility in Karachi early Tuesday, just two days after members of the Taliban launched an attack on the international airport in the same city.
The Tuesday attackers met with concerted armed resistance from the guards who were posted on the outer wall to the complex, and they didn’t breach the gates, The New York Times reported. But the incident shuttered several flights. An airport security head, meanwhile, tried to downplay the attack.
“It was not an attack as such. They came and fired,” said Col. Tahir Ali, in The Times.
He said officials were searching through the nearby slums for the attackers.
Nobody was injured in the gun fight, he added.
