FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A group of volunteers in Fort Worth has pitched in to help a woman in her 90s tear down a dilapidated barn after she received numerous warnings for code violations.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram (https://bit.ly/1wO2kdZ ) reports Armintha Brown watched with relief Saturday as a tractor tore through layers of sheet metal and lumber. She said, “I never expected this sort of help.”

The barn once used to house pigs had fallen into disrepair in the past few years.

Brown, who lives in far northeast Fort Worth, says, “I knew it was ugly, but I didn’t have the money to do anything about it.”

Worried about the warnings, she contacted Councilwoman Gyna Bivens for help. Bivens then assembled the team of volunteers, including members of a local church and firefighters.
