TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The longtime leader of the University of Arizona’s marching band is poised to play his last notes for the Wildcats.
The Arizona Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/1pvLGgZ) that the school announced this week that music professor Jay Rees has accepted a job leading the University of Miami’s marching band.
Rees’ resignation takes effect Aug. 1.
Rees said Friday the Florida campus, which is also his alma mater, sought him out.
The 53-year-old has directed the UA marching band for 21 years. He says he had mixed emotions about leaving.
Rees says UA officials will hold a nationwide search for his replacement.
