SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued severe weather warnings for southeast South Dakota and northwest Iowa.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect in eastern Lincoln County and northeastern Union County in South Dakota. Severe thunderstorms have been located along a line extending from Worthing, South Dakota, to Hawarden, Iowa, and are heading northeast at 25 mph.

The weather service says 60 mph gusts and penny size hail can be expected. Damage to roofs and fallen trees are possible.

A flash flood warning is in effect around the Sioux Falls area. Another one extends through northwest Iowa, from Akron and Westfield all the way east of Sioux Rapids.

Most of the eastern half of South Dakota meanwhile remains under a flood watch that is expected to expire before midnight.
