NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Police who came upon an accident involving three bullet-riddled cars in Newark say they found a shooting victim in one of the vehicles.

Authorities tell The Star-Ledger (https://bit.ly/1m3NYh1) that the wounded woman had been shot “multiple times” and was hospitalized in critical condition. But her name and further details on her injuries were not disclosed.

The crash occurred in the area of South 20th Street and 19th Avenue in Newark’s South Ward, not far from the Irvington border. It was discovered around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, and the other two cars had been abandoned before police arrived.

Another person found at the scene had a graze wound to the head, but that injury was not considered life-threatening.

A motive for the shooting has not been determined.
