OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A special Union Pacific train will carry a group of University of Nebraska coaches and athletic department officials to several cities in the state this summer.

Union Pacific says the special Big Red Express train will travel from Omaha to North Platte on June 28. It will also make stops in Columbus, Grand Island and Kearney.

At each stop on the tour, a few short speeches will be made while coaches representing all 24 of Nebraska’s varsity sports mingle with fans. Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst and football coach Bo Pelini are both scheduled to ride the train.

Union Pacific spokeswoman Donna Kush says the special train will highlight the railroad’s deep ties to Nebraska, where it is based.
