SHELDON, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a hiker has died after falling 150 feet down a ravine in western New York.

Troopers say 25-year-old Stephen Wagner of the Wyoming County town of Sheldon was walking with a friend in his hometown shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday when he lost his footing and fell down the ravine, landing in water.

State police, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, and the county rescue team responded to the scene.
