DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police have charged a woman with murder in connection with the body of a man found at a motel in northern Des Moines.

Police say they were called just after noon Sunday about a body in a room at the Royal Motel on Douglas Avenue. Officers responded and found the body of a 36-year-old man, later identified as Jerry Victor Brueggeman, of Des Moines.

Investigators interviewed the woman who called police, 35-year-old Stephanie Renee Moses, and then charged her with first-degree murder. She is being held in the Polk County Jail.

Court records weren’t available in the case to indicate whether she has a lawyer.

The cause of death will be released after an autopsy is completed.
