Just a few weeks before the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, astronaut Buzz Aldrin is asking social media users to remember the historic event with the #Apollo45 campaign.

Mr. Aldrin, who joined Neil Armstrong as the first people to ever set foot on the moon, wants users to post stories about where they were when the Apollo 11 mission landed on Earth’s closest neighbor.

The touchdown of the mission’s lunar lander, Eagle, on July 20, 1969, was watched by hundreds of millions across the globe, and fulfilled President John F. Kennedy’s call for the U.S. to land a person on the moon by the decade’s end.

Mr. Aldrin also hopes users will share their personal experiences on how the mission and NASA’s space exploration have affected them.

A number of celebrities have already agreed to post videos on the Apollo45 YouTube channel, including science luminaries Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye, Sen. Marco Rubio and London Mayor Boris Johnson, and celebrities like Stephen Colbert and Tim Allen.
