LOBELVILLE, Tenn. — A shooting at a National Guard Armory in Tennessee has left a longtime guardsman dead and a ’person of interest’ in police custody.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh DeVine said the shooting happened about 5 p.m. Wednesday in the town of Lobelville, about 75 miles southwest of Nashville. The identity of the man who was killed was not immediately released; DeVine said a top Guard official described him as a sergeant first-class who had been with the guard for 20 years.
DeVine said “a person of interest” has been taken into custody for questioning, but the man has not been charged. DeVine said the man was not employed at the armory.
He said at least one other person may have been inside the armory when the shooting happened.
