Kelsey Grammer, the star of hit television series “Frasier” and “Cheers,” said he’s offered forgiveness to his sister’s murderer but still refuses to support the man’s parole.
A Colorado parole board denied Freddie Glenn’s parole request after the Emmy award-winning actor testified via video conference in protest of his release, The Telegraph reported. Glenn was convicted of kidnapping, raping and killing Karen Elisa Grammer on July 1, 1975.
Glenn and his partners in crime grabbed the woman outside a Red Lobster in Colorado Springs, then killed her after they worried she might identify them to police. Glenn was on LSD when he slit Ms. Elisa’s throat, The Telegraph reported.
He was originally sentenced to death but his sentence was later commuted to life in prison.
Glenn, who was also convicted of two separate murders, gave a tearful apology to Mr. Grammer during the parole hearing, telling the judge that he had been “mixing with the wrong crowd” when he committed the crimes, The Telegraph reported.
“Thank you,” Mr. Grammer said, The Telegraph reported. “I accept your apology. I forgive you. However, I cannot give your release my endorsement. To give that a blessing would be a betrayal of my sister’s life. I want to believe you have actually changed your life … I accept that you live with remorse every day of your life I live with tragedy every day of my life.”
