WAVERLY, Neb. (AP) - Prosecutors have decided not to prosecute a Nebraska teacher accused of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old student.
The Lincoln Journal Star says (https://bit.ly/1khI23u ) 27-year-old Seth Styskal had surrendered to Lancaster County deputies and was briefly jailed in April. But on Wednesday, chief deputy county attorney Pat Condon said the county attorney’s office “did not believe there was sufficient evidence to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, the charge third-degree sexual assault.”
Court documents say the girl told her mother that she stayed after classes at Waverly High School in late January or early February to get some homework. She said a conversation with Styskal turned “flirty” and said he’d started playing footsie with her.
Styskal, who has resigned his job, told the Journal Star on Wednesday that the allegations were “unfortunate.”
