Nearly 8 in 10 veterans are satisfied with the GI Bill’s education benefits, a promising statistic as Congress and others scrutinize the failings of medical care for those who served.
Gallup found 32 percent of those surveyed were “very satisfied” and 46 percent were “satisfied” with the benefits.
However, “the broad satisfaction younger veterans express toward the program comes at a time when the federal government and some states, particularly California, are peering closely into how GI education money is being spent, and not liking what they see,” Gallup noted.
Some veterans cannot finish school before their money runs out, some are forced to go part-time and some enter for-profit programs that offer subpar degrees.
