RICHMOND – Pierre Garçon left the Washington Redskins’ practice early on Monday after straining his hamstring.
“He had a couple catches and just had a little bit of soreness in his hamstring,” said coach Jay Gruden. “He’ll be OK.”
Garçon said that he came out of practice early only because there was no need to risk any further injury on the fifth day of training camp. The Redskins wore full pads for the first time on Monday and permitted contact and tackling in drills.
The wide receiver set a team record and led the league with 113 catches last season, along with 1,346 receiving yards, which ranked eighth, and five touchdowns.
The Redskins previously canceled their Monday afternoon walkthrough and will be off Tuesday – their first break since starting camp on Thursday.
