Sen. John McCain decried President Obama’s mental state on a late-night Fox News appearance Wednesday, saying the top executive seemed to be wallowing in “self-pity” and that he ought to snap out of it.
“The self-pity that Obama continues to exhibit is really kind of sad, really,” Mr. McCain said during an interview with Greta Van Susteren.
The Arizona Republican made the comments while reacting to remarks Mr. Obama made at a fundraiser in California, also Wednesday evening, during which he suggested that the Republican Party could be a lot more “loyal and rational” while leading the government.
“You know, I can’t work with him at all,” Mr. McCain said, The Associated Press reported. “When is the last time he really called leaders of both parties together over at the White House for a dinner — a social event?”
Mr. Obama ought to reach out more, especially during this current state of worldwide turmoil, Mr. McCain said, AP reported.
“Right now, we have got Ukraine, we have got the border, we have got Israel, we have got Iraq, we have got more problems, more crises than I have ever seen before, both foreign and domestic,” Mr. McCain said, AP reported. “I’m talking about turmoil in the world. I have never seen more.”
